- I understand that you work part time as a nanny, but are you ever available for full time work during the week?
Yes I am available for full time hours, this is mainly during the school holidays, at weekends and on bank holidays as my current family do not require me to work on these dates.
I also occasionally work full time hours when my regular family go on holiday, usually during the school holidays. The next dates that I am available for full time work during the week are the 27th, 28th, 29th & 30th of October; either the full duration or just a few hours here and there - you decide!
If you require a regular full time nanny I strongly recommend nannies & childcare, a local child care agency; they can be contacted by clicking here. Monica, the lady that runs the agency was an au-pair herself many years ago and now has 4 children and employs childcare providers for her own family - so she has great insight into the world of childcare and can provide plenty of advice.
- So what service do you offer?
I provide childcare typically in your own home (occasionally my own in some circumstances); childcare options consist of the following:
Evening babysitter. Usually starting at around 7pm, I come to your home while you enjoy a night on the tiles.
Daytime childcare - Weekends. I come to your home during the day to care for your children. We do not have to stay indoors as I understand that many parents prefer their little ones to be outside - I also prefer to be outside too! But what we do is entirely up to you, I am happy to do whatever makes you and your children happiest. I can also come with you on day trips where an extra pair of hands makes the world of difference between a very good time and a very bad time.
Overnight childcare. I come to your home and care for your children overnight; maybe you have a party to go to that requires overnight accommodation or maybe you are off on a weekend break. Whatever your special occasion just get in contact to discuss your specific requirements.
- Do you hold a current CRB?
Yes, My CRB check was carried out as part of my previous employment. The enhanced disclosure check (this is the highest level available) was completed on the 16th April 2007 to view my CRB click here). Some information has been censored in the interests of personal safety but all parents are able to view a hard copy of my CRB and photocopies can be made for your own records.
- Are you qualified in First Aid?
Yes, I recently renewed my first aid qualification with City of Bristol College. The first aid course I undertook is specifically developed for those with a responsibility for the care of children and infants. The course is fully approved by the National Childminding Association and the Pre-School Learning Alliance. The course covered topics such as, unconsciousness, resuscitation, burns and scalds, blood loss and shock, foreign bodies, fractures, asthma, allergies, administration of medicine and recognition of infection and minor illnesses.
- How much do you charge?
I do not work with children because I want to be a millionaire - if money was my motivation I'd still be working in a job I hated. Because of this I operate a slightly unusual price structure. I ask parents to pay me a rate that they think is reasonable and that they can afford - a bit unorthodox I know, but I also know how much families can differ and I don't believe that you can offer childcare in a one size fits all manner; my theory is that each parent is just as entitled to a bit of time off as the next.
In the past I have been paid £15 per hour for emergency short term nanny work and £6 per hour for prescheduled babysitting work. There are many different factors to consider such as the number of children, the duration of care, the hours of care, if the children will be fast asleep when I arrive etc.
- Are you registered with Ofsted?
I am currently going through the registration process and hope that it will be complete by the end of October 2008.
- Can you provide references?
My current employers would be very happy to provide references. In addition all the mums and dad of The Motley Crew would be happy to provide references.
- Do you drive?
I have a 4 door Ford Fiesta with a clean drivers licence and appropriate business insurance so that your children will be insured in my car. All documentation can be provided upon request for your records.
- What happens if I need to cancel a scheduled slot with you?
If you are able to provide me with 48 hours notice that you will need to cancel your slot then you will not be expected to pay. Unfortunately if you cannot provide 48 hours notice you will have to pay for the time that you have booked - unless I am able to cover your slot with another booking. Of course each case is different and this is not set in stone, children are not the most predictable things and I appreciate that.
